The population of Shelburne in 1900 was 1508. There were 397 families, in 339 households. There was one non-white person, Sam Lee (Chinese), age 42.
Many of the households were extended families including grandchildren, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, and in-laws. Many households included unrelated boarders, especially males aged 15-25 who worked as laborers.
